Past Glories
Hi,
my name is AndyH from the 80's Mod band YEH YEH. We supported The Gents in Doncaster (I think!) way back in 198...umpety-ump! My vague (age is slowly overcoming me) memories are that it was a fantastic day. I can't remember that much about it except that I watched The Gents from the balcony in the venue, oh yes, and we went on to a pre-recorded soundtrack and 2 guys dancing around on stage dressed in Batman and Robim suits! Give us a break, we were young and it seemed a good idea at the time!!!!
Great to see there's finally an official website for The Gents and Steve Emmerson should be thanked for letting it be known....bless 'im!
Best of luck and I'll give the site a mention on the Modrevival and Modsreunited forums.
Cheers
AndyH

GreatThanks for this, I remember Yeh Yeh quite well, although I'm not quite sure I can remember the gig you mention. Can you remember the venue? Maybe I just didn't see your own set that night.
Anyway, if you were called Yeh Yeh, shouldn't you have written a song called "Georgie Fame" (or maybe even "Matt Bianco")? Ha ha!

Andy H,
Weren't you at the Birmingham Mod Alldayer last saturday?
I've had a listen to the 'preview' of the new Yeh-Yeh album you gave me & I love it mate.
Personally I would have turned the volume down a bit on my backing vocals on 'Creeping Jean' instead of turning them up.

Hi Slick,
as I implied, I'm prone to senior moments these days, it may not have been Doncaster but I defo remember the gig because of the 2 guys on stage as we went on. I'll double-check with the boys tonight, Simon tends to remember these things better than I but then he is younger than me.

hi andy thanks for the kind words,i did try and keep the 80's mod bands alive myself for a while and still do I suppose yeh yeh where excellent and so where the gents,I am sure the gig you mention is at Mansfield Alldayer as both bands where on that billing that day way back when lol.it's great yeh yeh have surfaced again and doing stuff (any news on the new cd mate) and now slick has surfaced with this excellent gents site, showing it just wasn't about the rage makin time etc (bloody good bands mind) but in the gents and yeh yeh and others we had some great bands up t north.
